Quechua OT Cluster | Huallaga
This language group is participating in the Quechua OT Cluster project.
Huallaga is one of seven related languages within the Quechua group of Peru. There are approximately 40,000 speakers of Huallaga without the Old Testament. The project uses Computer Assisted Related Language Adaptation (CARLA) software to adapt a completed draft of the Old Testament from Huallaga into a rough draft for the Margos-Yarowilca-Lauricocha speakers and the speakers of Huamalies. This will in turn facilitate adaptation from these two languages into four other Quechua languages. CARLA expedites much of the work formerly done by translators while ensuring accuracy and readability of the Scripture through a series of reviewing sessions with the community and trained consultants. By the end of 2010, each of the seven languages within the Quechua OT Cluster should have a completed draft of the Old Testament.
