Paranan NT

Paranan 1

The Paranan people live in Palanan, a remote coastal region of Luzon Island in the northern Philippines. Their region is inaccessible by road, so people depend on small wooden boats to transport them to other coastal towns where they receive medical help and purchase needed supplies. They support their families by farming, but because strong typhoons and heavy rains batter the region six to seven months a year, they can barely raise enough food to provide for their own needs. Two efforts by Philippine cross-cultural workers in the 1980s and 1990s produced 43 percent of the New Testament in Paranan, but work stopped when they left. Three Paranan speakers have now teamed up to complete the remaining 57 percent of the New Testament and are eager to begin. God has provided new momentum for the project, and the translation team has identified ways to improve the previously translated materials.
