Mbula NT | Mbula
The Mbula people live in northeastern Nigeria. Although they are a rural community, they are increasingly affected by changes in the world around them. These days many people travel to the towns and the influences of urban civilization are making inroads into their villages.
About 50% of the Mbula people claim faith in Christ. However, Hausa, the trade language, is used in church services and many Christians, especially women in the rural areas, do not know that language well. As a result, God seems distant and unimportant. Some members of the community are turning to cults that communicate in the Mbula language and seem to demonstrate immediate power.
The believers are convinced that when the Mbula people have access to God’s Word in their mother tongue, the life of the church and the community will be transformed.
