Manmal NT Cluster | Kokoan
This language group is participating in the Manmal NT Cluster project.
Kokoan means “People who look down”. The Kokoan people live in the mountains and they look down to see their neighbors. The majority of Kokoan speakers are farmers, growing corn, rice, cloves, vegetables, and raising cattle and horses. They live over a very large area, and the Kokoan language has more speakers than any other Manmal language. This project will focus on one of the two main Kokoan dialects with 150,00 speakers. .
Kokoan translators – and translators in nearby languages – attend workshops at a regional translation center as they continue translating the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament. These workshops provide translators with the training they need and a chance to collaborate.
