Majukayong NT | Majukayong

The majority of the 10,000 Majukayong people are small-scale farmers who subsist by wet rice farming and the slash-and-burn method of farming. The people are hospitable and peace loving, but they can be fierce fighters when they are provoked. They hold revenge as a high cultural value and feel humiliated if they are not able to avenge hurts or deaths. The Majukayong live according to a syncretistic mix of “Christian” ritual and animism. Having been enslaved by tradition and ritual, the Majukayong people need to see the relevance of Scripture to issues of life and death and everyday living. They need the Scripture in their own language to help them develop a deeper, more personal spiritual relationship.
