Kenyan Sign Language

Today, more than 200,000 people in Kenya are cut off from the Bible because they have been deaf from birth or an early age. Without a Bible that uses their grammar and vocabulary, they remain isolated from many parts of the Scripture.

Deaf Kenyans have almost no access to the kinds of educational resources that would teach them academic skills like reading or history. Deaf education is primarily focused more on teaching the child to speak rather than teaching him academic skills. Relatives, parents, teachers or peers make important decisions for Deaf adults.

The Kenyan Sign Language team will translate three sets of Scriptures in a DVD story format that presents truth to the Deaf Kenyan community in a form they can readily understand. In addition to a clear presentation of the gospel, the DVD will contain some of the only material this community has about spiritual growth, deepening relationships with God, the church and their role as Christians in the outside world.
