The Gamo, Gofa and Dawro people are three people groups united by their desire for the Bible in their three related languages. God is using a unique partnership between The Seed Company, The JESUS Film Project and the local church. Together, these three language groups are preparing translations of the Gospel of Luke and the script for the JESUS film.

    Gamo, Gofa and Dawro peoples of Ethiopia

    The Gamo, Gofa and Dawro people groups (together forming a population of over 1.2 million) speak similar languages, yet each needs its own Bible translation. A unique partnership between the three teams, their local churches, The Seed Company and the JESUS Film Project is operating to translate the New Testament and the “JESUS” film in all three languages.

    Gofa, Gamo and Dawro of Ethiopia

    More than one million people speak the Gofa, Gamo or Dawro languages. The languages are similar, but warrant separate Bible translations. Starting in 2004, Gofa, Gamo and Dawro translators formed a team, and today three New Testament translations are just about to be published!
