Erei IG | Erei

This project will provide Old Testament portions, including parts of Genesis, Exodus, the Minor prophets and selected Psalms. Translators will also work through New Testament portions including Luke, John, the Pastoral Epistles and the Letters of John.

These Scriptures will address many of the social ills among the Erei people and lay a firm foundation upon which to build a healthy self-esteem. An approved writing system will validate and preserve the Erei language and way of life. Most important, God’s Word will answer the unspoken questions, “Who is God? Are we important to Him, and if so, why?”

    The Erei of Nigeria

    One day, an Erei translator named Friday used a draft of John 3:16 to explain the translation project plan to Erei community leaders. As he prepared to leave, a non-believer detained him. The man had never attended church, but when he’d heard there was Scripture in his language, he’d searched the village to find the source.

    “Please,” he begged. “Can you give me that Bible in Erei that I heard you brought?” Though the verse was roughly translated, the stranger beamed with delight when Friday offered it to him. God is clearly moving in the hearts of the Erei people.
