Project Profile

Aramaic M-South NT | Aramaic M-South

Aramaic 2

Typesetting of the Aramaic M-South New Testament will soon be completed, in answer to prayer. Printing and distribution are expected to take place May 2012 alongside work on the Aramaic M-South Old Testament.

The Aramaic M South people have lived in relative isolation for hundreds of years in a remote mountain pass surrounded by harsh desert. Although there are several dialects of the ancient Aramaic language that are still spoken in the world today, theirs is the one that most closely resembles that spoken by Jesus and His disciples.

Speakers of Aramaic M South have been Christians since the early centuries of the church and even had one of the earliest translations of the Bible, the Peshitta. Today they can no longer understand the archaic language of the text, and nearly 50 percent have fallen away from their faith. Without the Word of God in a modern version of this ancient language, the people have only their age-old traditions to guide them.

Aramaic M South believers initiated this project because they love the Word of God and want to see their people reading the truth about Christ for themselves. The primary goal will be to produce the New Testament, printed Bible booklets, and audio recordings of Scripture materials.
