Aramaic M-North NT

Aramaic M-North is one of several modern dialects of the ancient Aramaic language that was spoken by Jesus and His disciples. Although the ancient Christian churches of Aramaic M-north were blessed to have one of the earliest translations of the Bible, it is now so archaic the people are no longer able to read it for themselves.
Christians were once the majority in this language group, but they have been under heavy persecution for over 1,300 years. Today many who adhere to the dominant religion realize that their forefathers where once Christians who were forced to convert. This sometimes causes people to explore their roots by studying Christianity.
Christians from the Aramaic M-North community initiated this project and a very capable speaker with a master’s degree in New Testament Biblical Studies will be the main translator for the project. Another speaker who has a doctorate in New Testament and is an expert in classic and modern Aramaic will oversee his work. Together the team hopes to complete the New Testament, along with the JESUS film and some Scripture audiotapes.
