Rivali of India
Asia: Rivali NT
The 600,000 Rivali people have worshiped animal gods as part of their traditional animistic beliefs for generations. Many years ago Catholic priests brought Christianity and practical assistance like the children’s homes they still run today. In 1978 national missionaries started planting churches. As a result of these ministries there are about 20,000 Rivali believers. Recognizing that God’s Word was needed for spiritual growth, nationals began translation in 1996. The literacy rate is very low, so literacy programs are also part of the project. - Thank the Lord that Matthew’s Gospel has undergone a final review by the team. Pray for the translators as they tackle Mark and Luke to get these books ready for typesetting. Pray that the consultant’s review of 1 and 2 Corinthians, the only books left to be checked by a consultant, will take place soon.
- Pray that the deep interest that’s being stirred among Rivali people for Christ and the Scriptures will remain high and that the enemy won’t dampen their spirits.
- The team constructed a church building in a remote village and held a dedication service to the glory of God. More than 600 Rivali believers participated in the celebration Pray that this new church will be a channel of God’s love to the Rivali community.
- As with the Ragar request on Monday, pray for the Board Chairman of the NBTO for God’s guidance.
