Ketning of Southeast Asia
Asia: Ketning OT | Ketning
The 15,000+ Ketning people have a remarkable story of transformation. Tucked away in a remote, nearly impossible to reach spot, the people received their New Testament in 1983. Before that, they had been animists, venerating ancestors, participating in revenge killings, exercising “black magic,” and practicing cannibalism. Yet today about 75% are Christians because God’s Word became accessible to them. Now there are no obvious animistic practices, syncretism or cults known in their community.During the past decade, pastors had been asking for help to translate critical Old Testament portions, which—until now—seemed unlikely due in part to their remote location. But technology now opens a way. Seed Company consultants can now support the team by using a combination of communication technologies. This project started in 2008 and ends in 2013.
-
Praise God the team has completed the final portions of several Old Testament books. Great work everyone!
-
Keep praying for the health of the team members (they’ve had a lot of sicknesses during the last year).
-
Pray that God will be glorified through singing of new hymns in the Ketning language.
