Marvel: Impacting the world one petition at a time.

Marvel Clark believes in the power of prayer

In addition to enjoying her role as grandmother to 46, Marvel Clark cherishes God’s gift of prayer. Raised by a working mother of seven during the Great Depression, she learned to trust God at a young age. Though Marvel loved church and hiked three miles to attend each week, at age 21, her relationship with the Lord deepened radically when a back surgery forced her to cry out in desperation for a Savior.

“When you lie on your back, you look up real fast,” she said. When Jesus revealed Himself through a series of dreams, Marvel entrusted Him with her entire life.

Today, Marvel reflects on what’s most important in life. “At 86,” she says, “You’re getting real close and need to be doing the most important business in the world — that’s prayer.” Why must we pray? “Scripture requires it. To obey God, we have to pray for each other … I don’t know anything more important than prayer,” she said.

”Just drop it in God’s lap,” she said. “Even when we don’t understand, just continually give God the need, and entrust the outcome to Him.”

As critical as this commission is, Jesus made prayer simple for Marvel. ”Just drop it in God’s lap,” she said. “Even when we don’t understand, just continually give God the need, and entrust the outcome to Him.”

No matter how incapable we may feel, God wants to use our prayers — to transform us, and to change the world. Today, Marvel is a Seed Company prayer partner for the Guerra Storying Cluster.

You too can devote yourself to a lifestyle of prayer. Check out other Seed Company projects in need of prayer at our prayer page.
